Letters to Domai

Dear DOMAI

"Beautiful things you find on the beach"

I've been an on again, off again visitor to your website for some time now and I must thank you for its beautiful and classy content. I must confess, however, that I've only recently started to read the weekly newsletter. Since then I have appreciated your site all the more so I thought I'd write in to thank you and also share a story myself.

I have always loved the beach and since I was a child have loved walking along the shore looking for those things beautiful or interesting that you sometimes find along the seashore. I'll tell you about two such finds that your readers may find interesting...

The first time I was maybe about 12 and walking with my brother. We'd gone on a family holiday down the coast and late one afternoon we decided to walk around the headland of the beach we were staying at to see what was on the other side.

After clambering uneventfully around the rocks we came to the start of the next beach and off to the left I heard the laughter of small children. I turned my head as a couple of kids ran past and my heart raced as my eyes fell on two beautiful young women stretched out naked on the sand, sunning themselves as their young children played around them.

I didn't want to stare or seem 'uncool' so I quickly glanced away but nevertheless I had taken in the whole scene in those few thrilling instants! They lay on their backs, their bodies slender and tanned, eyes covered by sunglasses and showed no sign of even noticing as my brother and I walked by a couple of meters away. I still have that 'mental photograph' over 20 years later. The whole scene was a picture of serenity, innocence and natural beauty and had a profound effect on me.

Many years later, having been a naturist since my late teens (I wonder if that early beach encounter had anything to do with it?) my girlfriend and I were camping at a beach frequented by many day visitors as well as other campers. As this was not a clothing optional beach and was frequented by many young families, at my girlfriend's insistence we used to walk up the far end of the beach so as not to 'offend' anyone.

Late one afternoon we were making our way back from the far end of the beach. Ahead I could see there were still a number of people on the main beach. Some still swimming, some lying down, catching the late afternoon sunlight and kids playing etc.

But one figure in particular caught my eye. She was squatting down by the waters edge building a sand castle. A young woman, perhaps in her early to mid twenties, playing in the sand as her two friends stood talking as they looked on a little further up the beach. From the distance, I could see that her two friends were both topless but the girl building the sand castle appeared to be completely naked!

I felt that same thrill that I had felt all those years ago when I happened upon the two sunbathing beauties with my brother. 'Surely she's not really naked, it must just look that way from this distance', I thought. After all, there were still quite a few people on the beach - all wearing swimming costumes or clothes. She wouldn't dare... would she?

Well, as I drew closer I saw that, yes, she would dare. As I got closer I saw that she was indeed totally naked. Her evenly brown body hunched over her knees, her wet hair falling over her generous and perfectly shaped breasts as she worked on her sandcastle. She seemed oblivious to my approach and only looked up as I walked past. I smiled at her and she, making no attempt to hide herself, smiled back - an angelic smile of blissful innocence.

I felt flushed with delight as I do when I see or experience any kind of natural beauty. It's hard for me to explain but I'm sure readers will understand - it wasn't just the fact that there was a beautiful naked woman. It was her spirit, her boldness, her carefree 'here I am, I don't care what anyone thinks!' attitude, her naturalness and the innocent smile - she was beautiful and inspiring. (I find many of the photographs on your site manage to capture this same spirit and feeling.) And the great thing was that no-one else on the beach seemed to mind in the slightest - and why should they?

As my girlfriend caught up with me I mentioned that maybe we didn't have to walk all the way up the far end after all and she just laughed. I knew she had been touched as well.

I think beauty wherever it is found should be shared. If you find it or possess it - don't hide it or cover it up and certainly don't be ashamed of it - share it. Beauty's raison d'etre is to be appreciated and to be appreciated it must be shared.

Thank you again and keep up the good work,

Chris

"... So I just wanted to thank you for such a great site. I can't wait to get into the archives, and to be able to download the whole of each new set as they appear. I find nearly all the models simply gorgeous, and so well captured. Of course I have my favourites, but the list seems to grow and grow! But let it be known that it was Nely that finally pushed me to subscribe. Well done to Sergey Babenko, the photographer! And of course to the main man, Eolake Stobblehouse The Great! Long live Domai!" - Chris H
